Kim Carlson

Kim Carlson joined Minnetonka Public Schools as the new Executive Director of Community Education. With over 25 years of leadership in Community Education, she is eager to contribute her extensive experience to the Minnetonka School District.

Prior to this role, Kim spent 18 years as a Director of Community Education, and her career also includes significant experience as an Early Childhood & Family Services Coordinator and Adult Basic Education Coordinator. Her background is further enriched by her work as a Parent Educator and her teaching roles in programs such as ECFE, School Readiness, and Head Start.

Kim is also involved with the University of Minnesota’s Community Education Director Licensure program, where she serves as a panelist, offering feedback to aspiring community education leaders. Additionally, she contributes to the Minnesota Community Education Association’s Equity Committee, working to advance equity in community education programs across the state. Additionally, she was a member of her local Rotary Club where she served for many years as the Community Service chair.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Director of Community Education Licensure from Saint Cloud State University, an Early Childhood Family Education degree from Crown College in Saint Bonifacius, MN, and a Master of Arts in Education from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota.

Kim looks forward to collaborating with the MCEC team and engaging with the diverse and vibrant communities served by Minnetonka Public Schools.
