Minnetonka Theatre Presents the Student Arts Showcase on Friday, August 23

Enjoy a free evening of music, theater, and dance, as Minnetonka Theatre students bring their passions to the stage for the fifth annual end-of-summer Broadway celebration.

The production will take place on Friday, August 23 at 7pm on the Arts Center Main Stage. The Student Arts Showcase is directed, choreographed and performed by Minnetonka students and is a wonderful opportunity for students to participate in a Minnetonka Theatre production.

This year’s Student Arts Showcase is directed by Olivia LaFontaine, Sidney Whiteside, Sam Rosewarne and Sam Vallancourt. “[Showcase] allows high school students a chance to direct a production, and gives students a chance to participate in a lower stakes production before the regular fall, spring and winter plays,” said Whiteside in a video produced by Minnetonka Theatre.

"As soon as I learned about Showcase I was just instantly intrigued. I did it first as a sophomore and I did it again going into my junior year," said Whiteside. "Being able to look up at the directors as a person I should aspire to be was always really cool so being able to be in that position of inspiration for incoming underclassmen is really a blessing."

This year marks the fifth ever Student Arts Showcase, which marks five years of students working hard to put on a marvelous performance of singing, dancing and more.

“Audience members should be looking forward to seeing a variety of different musical theater styles from different broadway musicals and to see really talented performers tackle these different styles beautifully,” student Sam Vallancourt shared in Minnetonka Theatre’s video about the production.

Community members are invited to come see the work of these talented directors, and talented actors to kick off the 2024-2025 Minnetonka Theatre season.

The production is free to attend. The Minnetonka Curtain Call Club will be accepting donations before the performance to support more quality theater productions like this one. Learn more at www.minnetonkatheatre.com.
